Rag Dolls to Robots: A World History of Toys
Lecturer: Chloe Sayer
Creativity and play are closely linked.
The making and the design of toys parallel the evolution of materials and technologies, trade and marketing, cultural trends and ideas about childhood. Toys contribute to the development of vital skills that children will need in adult life. Now, as in the past, toys enable children to understand and interpret the environment around them, while exploring their inner, imaginative worlds.
